Holocaust - Timeline

Star of David and a public sign found in an increasing number of public places, such as bars, theatres, cinemas, parks and even benches stating  "Jews not allowed". It turned out to be a very effective way of isolating the Jewish population of the Netherlands and eventually deporting them to the Jewish ghetto in Amsterdam and several camps throughout the Netherlands. Eventually, they were deported to transit camp Westerbork, from where they were deported to Auschwitz and Sobibor, where most perished.

Timeline of Worldwar II in the Netherlands with important events and Nazi directives aimed at segregating Dutch Jews. Please click a year to learn more about these events and directives. As you will notice, most directives aimed at the Jews started in the course of 1940 and increased dramatically in 1941. The Nazi's assumed they could win over the Dutch people by a lenient attitude (at first). They didn't succeed...

Directives aimed against the Dutch Jewish population are marked in YELLOW. This offers you the chance to see how treaterous the nazis seperated and isolated the Jewish population from Dutch society. General measures, important events and other directives are marked in WHITE.
